How we calculated this
tipped revenue × industry tip rate × 7.65% FICA × 90% qualifying portion

Industry tip rates we use (typical reported portion): Food & Beverage 15% · Personal Care 18% · Hospitality 8% · Other Service 12%. Qualifying portion accounts for the IRS $5.15/hr (2007 minimum wage) tip-credit threshold. We'll calculate your exact number from your actual payroll records.
The Process

Three steps. We handle the middle.

01

Apply

Five questions, sixty seconds. We tell you on the spot whether you qualify.

02

Reconcile

We collect payroll, POS, and tip records. We produce a clean Form 8846 input package.

03

Recover

Your CPA files. Or ours does. Credit hits this year's tax bill — and every year after.

Questions

What everyone asks first.

Is this legit?
Yes. The FICA tip credit is a long-standing federal credit (IRC §45B, claimed via Form 8846). Restaurants have claimed it since 1993. The 2025 OBBBA extended it to beauty industries for the first time.
Will this trigger an audit?
No more than any other line item on a return. The credit is well-defined. Audit risk comes from claiming credits on undocumented tips — which we don't do.
What if my CPA hasn't heard of it?
Common — it's new to many industries. We can send your CPA a prepared Form 8846 package and a one-page memo on the OBBBA extension so they can file confidently. If they'd rather not, our in-house Enrolled Agents file it directly — no extra hand-off for you.
What does it cost?
25% contingency. If we don't recover a credit, you don't pay. Our fee is 25% of the credit recovered, invoiced after the IRS processes your return. No upfront cost. No fees if there's nothing to recover.
Do I need to switch CPAs?
No. Our in-house Enrolled Agents handle the filing by default — you don't need a CPA to work with us. If you already have one you trust, we'll prepare the Form 8846 package and they can file it themselves. Either way, you're not locked in.
How long does it take?
Eligibility check: 60 seconds. Records reconciliation: 1–3 weeks. Credit captured at tax filing.
What about my employees?
The credit is paid to the business, not employees. It does not change W-2s, employee tax liability, or anything they've received. It's purely an employer-side credit on FICA the business already paid.
Is this annual?
Yes. The credit recurs every year. Once we set up your tip-reporting workflow, future years are much faster.
